Hello, a friend who is a member of Harvard Sportsman's Club and a father of a youth biathlete sent me this way to explore the masters biathlon group. I'm an avid skier (though primarily a rower) and have participated in other shooting sports, but have not done biathlon. I would be interested in racing/training with the group if there is an opportunity for a beginner to get involved. Lee
Hi Lee,
Yes, we would love to have you join us. Likely towards the end of March we will have a beginners event, where we can introduce you to/ asses your ability with biathlon shooting and safety rules.
While we would love to open the doors to new racers unconditionally, the race stress and managed chaos we orchestrate requires all participants to know their part.
Race observers are welcome, if that interests you, sign up for the newsletter on the splash page and reply to race invite as spectator.
Don
Hi Don,
Thanks for the response! Given the complexities and safety requirements of your sport I wouldn’t think jumping in would be a good idea, so a beginner event would be the ideal starting point. I’ll sign up for the newsletter now and make your acquaintance then - in the meantime I’ll try to make it to a race as a spectator if I find a Sunday I’m not skiing myself.
Lee
